Cyclone Nisha (2008) - Cyclone Nisha was the seventh tropical cyclone in the Bay of Bengal in the year 2008. Heavy rains have stopped as of Friday evening but there are occasional showers to make moving around the city a major hazard. Damage is estimated at about 3789 crores i.e.  The highest rainfall was recorded in Polavaram at 230 mm on 17 November. On average, 2–3 tropical cyclones make landfall in India each year, with about one being a severe tropical cyclone or greater. Somewhat unusually, no depression developed during the month of July due to the lack of a prominent monsoon. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center began issuing advisories on the system a few hours later that early morning, designating it as Tropical Cyclone 04B.
